I also found out from reading various regulations and documents that if I DO ever find a lawyer to assist me, I get to pay him. They won't do it.
Oh- the other letter says they will pay out up to $1,500 a month for someone to wipe my ass for me, help me brush my teeth, and give the 'ol teabag a brush while I'm in the shower. I don't know if they're allowed to change my sheets for me, but I suspect they'll help me pick my nose. In bold at the bottom of the letter it says stuff they're specificly NOT allowed to do which goes something like this: (I don't have it in front of me..) Assistant is NOT allowed to do the dishes, sweep the carpet, go to the store, chase the ferrets, turn the channel on the tv, get that cobweb out of the corner, move that heavy thing, help me move the bed, put up a hanger so I can put a cloth something across the bathroom door, reach the shit in the top cubbards, help me move this or that because it's too damn big / bulky / heavy and I can't move it by myself now, get the tv off the dresser, you know, all the shit that I really need help with. But they're not alowed to do that.
Kind of ironic if you ask me. Pecause I'm tryin' to do all that shit (or most of it) every day I've got this pressure sore.... All because someone's afraid to spend a few pennies a month. So if / when this thinggets worse and I need flap surgery they're gonna have to spend $70 to $100,000 to get me all patched up. So what's the better money saving long term solution?
You see, that's the problem with these people. Everyone else who they deal with gets better eventually and they don't have to deal with OWCP any more. I'm not going to get better, Ever. They haven't figured that out I don't think. So I figure "screw it" and when I get some injury that costs a hilarious amount of money they'll have to pay as it related to my origional injury. No promotion for "saving the government X dollars" for whoever catches that one.
The state offers exactly the service I'm looking for- Someone to be my legs and help me around the house for a couple hours a week. I checked into it after hearing (and seeing) it at the Snake Pit Apartments where I lived when I first came to town. I don't qualify tho. Why? I make too much. Yep, I make too much for that, but not enough to pay someone on my own.
I ended up not buying that house... It was a "fixer-upper" which I could easily have done 3+ years ago but I fear I'm unable to do now. Sure I can talk someone through fixing everything, but if I'm going to pay that much money for something I want it to work, Ok?
For all of you who have written and are waiting for your reply I apologize.... I rarely have time to pick my nose with school and doing everything myself so it's hard to get to the mail sometimes. I read it all, I'm just kinda slow on the replies.
