It's easiest to type it out & make a list- then I can just fax it so everyone has it in their hand(s) and we can talk about it. So here it is:
All I really need is replacements for some of the stuff I've worn out, and a couple additions to the things I already have.
I go through a set of wheelchair tires about evert 3 to 4 months. They're Continental 26X1, Sportaid catalog #6504, $39.50 ea, as seen here: http://www.sportaid.com/catalog/page33.shtml?Continental%20Wheelchair%20Tires
At the same time, I usually trade out the casters on the chair (the little wheels in the front? Ya those.) I run rollerblade wheels (inline skates)on here- The smaller the front wheels, the easier the chair is to move around.
I use Camelian 76mm lighted wheels from Skatewheels.com - They light up so there's less of a chance of me getting schwacked in the parkin' lot at night. They're $10 each plus shipping.
The blue ones can be seen here: http://www.skatewheels.com/cgi-bin/estore/web_store.cgi?page=inline_qd.html&cart_id=9818529_25045
My elevated toilet seat is about to buy the farm. I need a new one. It's a Lumex #6467. Sportaid has them for $89.50 plus whatever for shipping. See one at the bottom here: http://www.sportaid.com/catalog/page65.shtml?Toilet%20Seat%20Products
I have an EasyStand 5000 Mobile. It's a "thing" that allows me to stand- So my leg bones don't waste away to nothing. And so I can reach stuff. I don't use it much, because when it arrived, it came with no back. I asked for a "Low back", but whoever took the order must have heard "No back". When I stand in it, my spasms turn on and it can be quite a rodeo. Without a back on the thing, I'm afraid the spasms will throw me over backwards.. Where I'll hang untill someone finds me, possibly with a broken lumbar spine. I've been trying to get a back for it for over 3 years.
The mattress on my bed is a custom Tempur-pedic. It's 8' long, 4' wide, and however thick they're made.. 8" I think. OWCP bought the origional mattress- But the covers are worn out as are the sheets. I'd like some new ones.
I have a 1" (thick) 18" X 20" foam cusion for the car seat. Doesn't work well to keep the pressure-sores away, but it's all I have. I could *really* use a 2" Roho or something..
Cleaning. Ask my Mom how well I do at cleanin' this place. Some help with that would be rather nice- Asked my Doc, I have the Rx for 4 hours a week, I think. It's even been approved by OWCP. The guy (my vocational rehabilitation specialist) who's supposed to be finding the cleaning folks? Apparently is ... Busy or something.
What I would *really* like is some sort of system where I can get what I need- submit the reciepts & get reimbursed. That was the way it was supposed to work in the beginning, or so I was told.. Unfortunately I have nothing in writing. If I could have some contact person within OWCP who I could ask for these things- Then maybe I get written authorization to get the thing.. Then I get it, attach my receipt and send the whole thing in. Easy. I get what I need, it doesn't take 2 months, and involves the minimum of people.
